About lauraine mann

I believe healing begins in the body.

01 - how I work

Where Psychology meets the body

Lauraine Mann is a psychosomatic practitioner based in New York City, working with clients in person and worldwide via Zoom. She holds an MSc in Psychology, is certified in psychosomatics, and works with high achieving women recovering from sexual assault, controlling relationships and communities, and family, societal and cultural expectations.

My career began in corporate England, where I worked across several psychology consultancies in London before moving into workplace wellbeing. I taught and developed senior leaders to grow not only themselves but the people they lead, and I researched sleep, stress, depression and anxiety, bringing the data into the workplace to inform how organizations moved forward.

I have also studied meditation, inner child work and energy healing.

In our work together I bring all of this into the room. We honor what your mind already understands, and we include your body, so that the change you have been reaching for can be felt, not just thought about.

“I remember saying to you that ‘I know my patterns and I know why I do what I am doing.’ When your response was something like, and in your knowing, when you are repeating the patterns that you are wanting to shift, how is your body? I was stunned. No one had ever asked me that. Something so simple and yet so profound to me...”

My Journey

I was born and raised in London, where I loved the rhythm of city life balanced by the English countryside. In 2017 I moved to the US, and after time in the West I found my home in New York City, a place full of culture and diversity, and close enough to nature that I can slow down, breathe and reconnect with the earth.

Like many of the women I work with, I have experienced trauma. For years it left me dissociated and disconnected from my body and my life, and my own healing has been about reclaiming those parts of myself. Bridging the gap between mind and body became my passion, and it has let me grow into greater presence, intimacy and aliveness.

Early on I discovered meditation and energy healing, and in weekly groups I learned to travel inward and reconnect with the parts of me I had lost touch with. Part of my training introduced me to Lakota healing teachings. They changed how I understand energy, the natural world and what it means to heal, and I carry what I learned with deep respect and gratitude, as a student rather than a practitioner of those traditions.

I hold deep care for women who have experienced sexual abuse, and I advocate for real change in how survivors are supported. I also work closely with the LGBTQIA+ community, honoring the complexity of identity, self-expression and belonging. I lead with intuition and heart, and then bring in the training I have gathered over many years, so that together we can uncover what keeps you stuck and move toward freedom, aliveness and joy.

02 - My Story

The Principles of Radical Aliveness

03 - what I believe

Nothing in you is wrong. You are not here to be fixed, you are here to understand yourself more fully and reconnect with what your body already knows. My practice is grounded in five principles, which I strive to live by and share.

01

cultivating a non-shaming heart

Seeing goodness in ourselves and others, so that vulnerability and deep healing can emerge.

02

knowing i don’t know

Staying curious and open rather than judging or assuming.

03

welcoming multiple perspectives

Honoring differences, even when we don’t always agree.

04

being willing to be changed

Allowing transformation through the unknown.

05

welcoming everything

Welcoming all feelings, so we can stay, transform, and know ourselves more deeply.

Alongside these principles, I hold a simple belief: we are shaped in relationship, and we heal in relationship too.

what sessions look like

04 - in the room

Sessions tend to be 60 minutes, in person in New York City or on Zoom. We talk, and we also slow down to notice what is happening in your body as we go, the sensations, emotions and impulses that show up in the moment.

Sessions are collaborative, relational and varied. You might sit, stand or lie down, depending on what is going on for you and what we are working with. Touch is sometimes part of the work, and it is only ever offered with your consent, which you can change at any point. You set the pace, and you can bring anything here, including the things you have never said out loud.

05 - a small story

Dragonfly Mark

Why the Dragonfly

People often ask me why my logo is a dragonfly. The honest answer is that it came long before I knew what I wanted to do with my life. Dragonflies began appearing when I was 19 and going through a lot of change, and the moment that stayed with me most was a deep conversation with someone close to me, when a dragonfly flew into the room, circled us, and left.

Since then they have kept appearing at moments that feel meaningful or alive, and they have come to represent a quiet kind of transformation, the kind that happens beneath the surface. I even carry one tattooed on my body. When it came to choosing a symbol, I couldn’t imagine anything that holds transformation in quite the same way.
