Introduction
Your privacy matters to me, and I take care with anything you share, whether that is an email, a booking, or what you bring into our sessions. This policy explains what information I collect through this website and in the course of working together, how I use it, and the choices you have.
This website and practice are operated by Lauraine Mann ("I", "me"), Lauraine Mann, psychosomatic practitioner, based in New York City.
A note on HIPAA
I do not work with insurance companies or bill insurance, so my practice is not a "covered entity" under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and HIPAA does not govern this policy. I nonetheless hold the information you share with me to a high standard of privacy and confidentiality, as described below.
Information I collect;
When you use this website
Basic technical information, such as your browser type, the pages you visit and how you arrived at the site, collected through (Analytics) and cookies used by Squarespace.
When you book a call or a session
Your name, email address, phone number and any details you choose to share in the booking form, collected through Acuity Scheduling and paperwork I send you via email.
Payment details, which are processed by Venmo, Zelle, Acuity Scheduling or Square. I do not see or store your full card number.
When you join my email list
Your name and email address, collected through Squarespace, for example when you sign up for The Space Between.
When we work together
Contact details and an emergency contact.
Information you choose to share with me in our sessions, and brief notes I keep to support our work. You are always the one who decides what you share.
How I use your information
To arrange, hold and follow up on calls and sessions.
To take payment and keep accurate business records.
To send you emails you have signed up for. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time.
To understand how people use the website so I can improve it.
To meet legal obligations.
I never sell your information, and I never share what you bring into our sessions for marketing of any kind.
When information is shared
I only share your information:
With your written consent, for example if you ask me to speak with another practitioner who supports you.
With the service providers that run my practice, such as Acuity Scheduling, my payment methods, Squarespace and Zoom, and only so they can provide their service.
When the law requires it, for example in response to a valid court order, or where there is a serious and imminent risk to someone's safety.
How I protect your information
I use reputable, password-protected services, limit access to your information to myself, keep session notes securely, and use secure platforms for online sessions. No online system is completely secure, but I take reasonable care to protect what you share.
How long I keep information
Client notes and records: 5 years after our work ends, then securely destroyed.
Email list details: until you unsubscribe.
Booking and payment records: as long as required for tax and business purposes.
Your choices and rights
You can ask me to:
Correct anything that is inaccurate
Delete your information, where I am not required by law to keep it
Stop sending you marketing emails

This website uses cookies to function and to understand how it is used. You can control or block cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well without them.
Children
This website and my services are intended for adults aged 18 and over. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed.
